Artists Eggs-hibit Talents For Kids’ Charity

Five Watermark artists are egg-static to have been asked to donate their time and talent to a children’s charity fundraiser with a difference.

Beck Wheeler, Hayley King (aka Flox) , Cinzah Merkins, Dean Proudfoot and Daron Parton joined other local artists, jewellers and creatives in decorating 100 3ft-high fibreglass eggs for The Big Egg Hunt, in support of Auckland’s Starship Children’s Hospital.

“Sometimes a charity event comes along that is so cool you'd be mad not to help out on,” says Dean.

Between March 21 and April 22, the eggs are being ‘hidden’ in well-known spots in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Kids and their families can find and mark the eggs on special maps and enter a competition. After the competition, the eggs will be auctioned on Trade Me and at a live gala event.

The event, based on a successful UK campaign, is a first Down Under. ‘The result is a diverse collection of wonderful 3D art and a chance to help out a really worthwhile cause,’ says Dean.
