PangeaSeed

Illustrator Cinzah Merkens, along with some of todays biggest names in contemporary street art, was invited to participate in the international Sea Walls project being run by PangeaSeed.

PangeaSeed are a group of volunteers whose aim is to raise awareness about over fishing, endangered marine species, plastic pollution, coastal development, shark fishing, and the general plight of marine species within the worlds oceans.

In collaboration with 1xRUN, Residencia Gorila, World Art Destination and Juxtapoz Latin America they are embarking on a mission to offer these artists the opportunity to swim with and study endangered whale sharks and oceanic manta rays off the coast of the island of Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Inspired by their interactions with these majestic giants in the wild, the artists are creating a series of large-scale public murals on the island to help educate and raise greatly needed awareness within the local and tourist communities for the plight of these animals and the oceans. The murals will also highlight the benefits of ecotourism and long-term sustainability of natural resources.

Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans is a new approach to ocean conservation, marrying art and activism. The Sea Walls expedition will make a large impact and gain global media attention – with your help.

Best place to find info on all the artists and see progress shots  is their Face book Page
