NZ Honora Honey - packaging range

The brief from Curious Design was to illustrate native New Zealand flora for Greens of NZ Honora Honey ranges. “They wanted a loose, fresh, expressive and slightly naive watercolour style,” says Jo. “I did the infusions and non-organic ranges in colour and the organic range in greyscale.”

The three ranges - infusions, organic and non-organic - under the Honora brand name are being aimed at the fast-growing Asian market. “An evocative name was the starting point which gave us the inspiration to create the elegant, sophisticated packaging,” says Dieline on its website. “(It’s) An outstanding blend of an iconic logo, clean contemporary typography and beautifully illustrated imagery.”

After completing the artwork - a mix of traditionally painted and scanned watercolours - Jo assembled the files digitally in Photoshop to create the loose, hand-rendered feel.

“This was a beautiful project to work on,” she says. “I always love a project where I can be creative with actual paints and watercolour paper!”
