Coles Ice Cream

Developing a family of characters to promote Coles ice cream was the challenge laid down to Wayne and Joe King.

Initially, Joe created a range of wild animals that would be so appealing to children, that they’d all scream for ice cream. And what parent can resist that?

The Kings presented two concepts: one with a flat, graphic style and a second that offered more of a fantasy ice cream world.

The client preferred the latter, but wanted some further development of the characters, which led to the addition of a giraffe in a baobab ice cream savanna.

The winning offering was a family of local critters who live in the fantasy land of Oz, which is filled with ice cream trees and banana-carrying cockatoos. And it looks good enough to eat.
