2011 Best Awards
A pressure-cooker project continued to win awards for Watermark when the Vodafone NZ Foundation Project received a Gold Pin from the Designers Institute of New Zealand (DINZ) this year.
"The great thing about this job was that it was truly a team project, with seven of the Watermark group being involved to make sure we met the client’s deadline and expectations," says Watermark director, Simon Shaw.
Client Colenso’s deadline was tight and the brief challenging. ‘We threw a last-minute brief at Watermark to create three separate illustrations, all in different styles and portraying different personalities, which had to be completed in under a week,’ says Phil Newman, Colenso’s producer on the project.
To make things interesting, the team had to work on two different sizes - small for newspapers and large for outdoor Adshel. The job also required an animated element for an online micro-site.
‘With less then a week to complete their part of the project, the speed at which they worked was absolutely amazing and accurate to the brief,’ says Phil.
Vodafone and everyone who worked on the project was thrilled with the results and the campaign has been a great success, he says.
‘I’d like to add a special thanks to the Watermark crew Si, Dave et al for not just the beautiful illustrations and animations but for delivering in record time without compromising on quality or craft,’ says Hayden Thomsen, Colenso Digital Producer.
This series of images also won golds and merits awards in the 2011 3x3 Illustrators Annual and the 2011 Illustrators Australia Awards.
